“Snapshot Saturday”

In the early fall of 1755, a French hunter ventured west into the wilderness that surrounded Fort Pontchartrain du Detroit. Deep in the forest, a fox squirrel barked. The woodsman stood still. When he saw the squirrel scamper along an oak limb the front sight of his fusil chased the creature until it caught up with its head. New France, near the headwaters of La Riviere aux Raisins.
